From the beginning, Simon and Aggie had a heart for starting an education fund in Uganda. God knew their desire and connected them with the Kisoro Baptist Association (KBA) and Pastor George Mbonyebyombi in 2010. Since then, hundreds of elementary school children have gone from sitting on logs on dirt, jigger-infested floors to nice desks on cemented floors. For Simon and Aggie, Kisoro Kids has provided a model for what they value in an indigenous-donor partnership ministry: community ownership and empowerment. They work to facilitate clear communication between the KBA schools and US based Kisoro Kids staff, and spend quality time with members of the Kisoro community to talk about what’s ahead, to share stories and provide accountability checks. Here too, Simon and Aggie’s cross-cultural life has proved invaluable.
